Most people chase intelligence by collecting more information, but what if the real upgrade is subtraction—releasing the beliefs that quietly run your life? I’m Linton Bergsen, host of Self Realized: Shatter Your Limits, and in this episode we explore real intelligence as the ability to change your mind without losing your center, so you can think more clearly, feel more grounded, and live more intentionally.

I begin with a story about a mountain climber who trusts his compass until it fails, then finds his way by looking up at the stars. It’s a simple mirror for how we often mistake certainty for truth, cling to familiar opinions, and call it strength. From there, we explore the tension between ego and spirit: the ego needs to be right, while your spiritual nature needs to be real.

We talk about intuition as an inner guiding light, why man‑made tools (including artificial intelligence) are powerful but limited, and how real connection and fulfillment come from inner knowing, self‑awareness, and presence. You’ll hear this in clear, everyday language so it lands whether you’re new to spirituality and personal development or already deep into your growth journey.

You’ll also get practical tools you can use immediately for mindset transformation and spiritual growth:

  • Compass Check: Question the beliefs you defend the hardest and see what’s actually true.
  • Reverse Thought Alchemy: Turn heavy, limiting self-talk into language that expands you.
  • Spiritual Let Go: Practice surrender without collapsing or abandoning yourself.
  • Sacred Pivot: Take three conscious breaths, ask one honest question, and choose to respond from love instead of impulse.

If you’re into personal development, mindfulness, meditation, cognitive flexibility, spirituality, or intuition—and you want tools you can actually use in daily life—this episode will help you live it, not just think about it. What if real intelligence has less to do with what you know and more to do with what you are actually willing to release? Most people think intelligence is found in analysis and information. But what if the highest form of intelligence is simply the courage to evolve, to allow your beliefs, your identity, and even your story to change. Because when you truly change your mind, you don't just chip the thought, you transform your consciousness, you rewrite your energy, and you rewire your possibilities. Today's episode number 130 of the self-realized Shabi Pucker, with me, Linton Bergson, we will explore real intelligence, the ability to change your mind. We will discover what happens when logic meets spirituality, when the brain surrenders to the heart, to the spirit, to the intuition, and the heart then returns you to truth. In this episode, you will learn practical tools, inner exercises, and spiritual wisdom to retrain your mind and realign your energy with transformation itself. Because you can't evolve your life until you evolve your mind. You can't evolve your mind until you let your soul, your spirit, and your heart lead you in the right direction. Let's start with a story. It's about a mountain climber named Eli, who trusted his compass more than his instincts. But one day, high in the storm, the compass malfunctioned. For hours he wandered around terrified. Then exhausted, he stopped, and he finally looked up. Clouds parted, and the stars showed him what the compass never could. That night he realized he hadn't been lost because of broken tools. He'd been lost because he mistook certainty for truth. Each of us carries a compass like that. Our own beliefs, our opinions, and our assumptions, believing that they are directing us true north. But sometimes real direction only appears when we dare to lift our eyes beyond what we already know, what we choose to believe, where we step away from the status quo, what we are comfortable with, and we choose to experiment with something new. Contemplate on this for a moment. Eli had been using a compass, a man-made tool to navigate his way. He had created the illusion of certainty that that would work for him. But when it failed, what did Eli do? He looked above him, into the stars, the divine, the cosmic consciousness, God, whatever you want to call it, for direction that did not fail him. Because throughout history, man has used the stars to navigate where he is to lead him to where he wants to go. Sometimes all you have to do is trust the universe. It doesn't fail. Polaris, the North Star, is always there, provided by the divine. All you have to do is look up to see where your true north is. That is part of the ability for you to use your real intelligence. There is a spiritual layer to using your real intelligence and having the ability to change your mind. Your human nature, the ego, thrives on being right. Your spiritual nature thrives on being real. The unique, authentic you. Certainty is the ego's security blanket, but awakening requires the quiet bravery of admitting maybe my map is incomplete. Maybe the direction that I'm moving in is not correct. When we choose to loosen our grip on believing what we think we know is correct, life opens a door to new possibilities that were previously closed by false assumptions and subconscious programming and habits. Let's do a quick exercise now, if you can. I like to call this exercise the compass check, checking in to see what direction your life is really moving in at this time. Ask yourself three simple questions. Number one, what belief do I defend the most? Number two, gently ask yourself, When did I decide this? And then number three, what if I am wrong? Feel the discomfort, the stretching. That is your consciousness expanding. That sensation is intelligence awakening, real intelligence, because you are questioning your current status quo, allowing you to move into a new state of consciousness, where all self-improvement, personal development, and self-realization occur. Change your consciousness, change your mind, change the way you intelligently approach your life. Sometimes we think that not changing our mind is strength, and weakness is if we do, or at least show weakness to other people that we have changed our mind. But that is not the case. Let me share a story with you about a man I met a few years ago who defined success as control. He built a powerful company, he made millions, he confessed to feeling hollow. Then life intervened. Illness forced surrender. He learned to trust people, rest, and listen. He said to me, I used to think strength meant never changing my mind. He said, But real strength, real intelligence was the courage to admit I needed to. That is what evolution looks like in real time. If you look at this from a spiritual perspective, spiritually, every life crisis is a lesson for your soul, your spirit to grow and develop beyond where it is now. The mind calls it failure. Consciousness, expanded consciousness, calls it initiation. As long as we cling to who we were, we block who we're meant to become and everything and every blessing that is meant to come with it. Contemplate on this for a moment. Where in your life are you confusing consistency with wisdom? Here is a thought. It invites it. The real truth is the divine, the cosmic consciousness, God, whatever you want to call it, has a pathway for you to uniquely walk. But you cannot walk that pathway and open new doors for yourself with old intelligence. You have to develop a new intelligence to work with in this world. And that intelligence is what I call the real intelligence, because that is divine intelligence that is leading you to where you want to go beyond logic, as we mentioned in the earlier story. Eli had his man-made compass for navigation as his tool. We all have computers, we all have tools, especially in today's day and age. But they are limited. They create illusions of certainty. If you look above and you look into the heavens, you look into the stars, the ability to use that intelligently is your true guiding light. It is called intuition. And you cannot get that from any machine. It is internal, and the self-realized individual is always developing that inner voice, that inner intuition, trusting it more and more, and understanding the divine intelligence that is speaking through them is far superior and more reliable than any man-made intelligence, artificial or otherwise, ever could be, or ever will be. It is in circumventing that knowing that all of our problems begin. Artificial intelligence is exactly that. Obviously it has great uses, very specific, which I discuss more in episode number one hundred and twenty-six, AI, Spiritual Technology and Humanity 2.0, your next evolution. It may give you some interesting perspectives. It is as real as can possibly be and will fulfill you more than any external information or intelligence ever could. True connection, real connection, is always made and always will be made by us connecting spirit to spirit with each other and everything that we do and accomplish in life. In order for you to have real intelligence and the ability to change your mind, you're gonna have to be flexible. And psychologists might call this cognitive flexibility, which simply means having the ability to be able to switch perspectives easily. Spiritually, it's energetic flexibility, the art of being able to flow, to let energy flow where it wants, rather than forcing reality to match your old ideas. Imagine your mind as a camera if you can. If you never focus, the picture blurs. To see clearly, you must twist the lens and allow new light to come in. Look at that light coming through the lens as new intelligence coming in. Because essentially, on the spiritual level, spirit is light. And anytime you let more light into your life, you let more spiritual intelligence into your life. For those of you listening who are involved in meditation, you may understand this as a real experience that when you go into deep meditation, you feel a light, an energy. Maybe some of the darker areas of your life that may be happening at that moment during meditation, you may feel or witness a bright light coming into your consciousness, displacing the darkness. That is the spiritual light, the spiritual intelligence that is activated through prayer, meditation, whatever religious or spiritual practice you may adhere to, that you apply when you reach certain situations in your life that you don't have necessarily a human resolution to. And that gets back to the original concept we talked about in this episode. Man-made tools are limited, human intelligence is limited, spiritual intelligence and spiritual understanding is unlimited. And that is why developing that spiritual intelligence is really the ability for you to lock into your real intelligence. Anything you ever need to know or find out is already inside of you. That is a journey of the self-realized individual. Working with and developing that inner spiritual intelligence, your intuition, your inner voice, which we all have, which is their real intelligence that they bring to bear upon all the situations they are involved in in their life. When you make a decision from spiritual intelligence and wisdom, it is very different from the decision you will make from human intelligence and impulse. I would like to give you an exercise. I call it the reverse thought alchemy. If you are able to at this moment, think of something heavy you believe in right now. For example, it's too late. I always fail. I am not enough. Speak it softly to yourself. Now breathe a golden light through your crown, down into your chest, and whisper the reverse. I am right on time. Every new beginning teaches me wisdom. I am already enough. In that instant you have performed mental alchemy, transforming dense belief into a luminous, bright truth. In that moment, your body relaxes because your soul, your spirit remembers. Truth feels like expansion. When we talk about expansion, there is also an understanding about the intelligence of surrender in facilitating that expansion. Intelligence isn't always about more control. Sometimes it's about graceful surrender. I discuss more about that concept in episode number one hundred and twenty-eight, The Illusion of Control, how letting go unlocks true peace and power. There's an ancient truth. That's divine intelligence. Responsive, wise, and unresisting. If you can, I want you to participate in something I call the spiritual let go. Picture one part of your life where you're pushing hard. A result, a person, an expectation. Place it in your imagination into a flowing river of light. Say quietly, I trust divine intelligence to arrange this perfectly. Let it drift, feel your shoulders drop, your spirit has just reclaimed space where fear once lived. That surrender is not weakness, it's the wisdom of the higher mind, the higher intelligence, taking the wheel to direct your life in the right direction. So, how do we bring all of this into our daily lives? It starts with awareness, where everything starts, self-awareness, creating the sacred pause between reaction and response, which you can apply in your personal and your professional life. The next time you catch yourself defending a thought, stop and ask, What am I really protecting? Truth or ego? In that split second pause, builds the muscle of real intelligence. It's in that space between impulse and insight where your higher consciousness, your real intelligence, slips through. Let me give you a daily integration exercise I call the sacred pivot. Choose one situation each day this week where you feel fixed or resistant. Take three conscious breaths, ask inwardly, what would love say? Maybe love says apologize. Maybe it says stay silent, maybe it says walk away. But listen, that practice turns your spiritual insights into lived wisdom. Remember, every mind unafraid to change becomes a vessel for universal intelligence. The more flexible you are, the more truth flows through you freely without resistance. Real intelligence isn't about being right, it's about being awake. Every time you change your mind toward truth, compassion, or possibility, you raise just not your vibration, you lift the frequency of everyone around you. Tonight before you sleep, ask your higher self, what truth am I now ready to see differently? Let the answer rise in its own timing. Because when we change our mind in love, the universe changes with us. Thank you for sharing this space with me, Linton Bergson on Self-Realized Shatter Your Limits.
